AROME OSAYI, THE JAPA APOSTLE, GETS HIS GREEN CARD

Arome Osayi is the supposedly powerfully anointed, self-appointed apostle who claims to have received advanced spiritual training from Abraham and John Knox during a 90-day excursion to heaven. He is the “super-elite Christian” who, by his own extraordinary accounts, is repeatedly summoned to heaven for exclusive strategy sessions with Jesus. This is the man-god to whom Satan came, crawling on his knees, begging for his help to complete a project in England.

Yet when this spiritual ninja is confronted with the very real dangers posed by Fulani bandits, ISWAP terrorists, kidnappers, and violent criminals in Nigeria, the alleged spiritual commando did not remain behind to deploy his celebrated supernatural arsenal against the forces of darkness. He fled to the safety and security of the United States.

For a man whose testimony portrays him as practically having executive access to heaven, his response to earthly danger appears remarkably ordinary: run.

Instead of demonstrating the extraordinary spiritual power he so frequently speaks about, he did what religious charlatans have done throughout history when reality comes knocking—he headed for safer shores. 

Now that he is comfortably situated in America, one suspects that the most immediate battle before him may no longer be terrorists or kidnappers, but keeping his cholesterol level low and ensuring that his already protruding potbelly does not expand to proportions reminiscent of a woman carrying triplets.

And this is where the comedy ends and the tragedy begins.

I pity the masses of gullible people who continue to fall for this religious theater. My heart breaks for impoverished and biblically uninformed men and women who surrender their hard-earned money to Gospel hucksters while being mesmerized by spectacular tales of heavenly journeys, supernatural encounters, secret revelations, and privileged access to Jesus.

When a preacher’s credibility depends upon unverifiable mystical adventures rather than the faithful exposition of Scripture, Christians should not be impressed. They should be alarmed.

The Church does not need more spiritual celebrities claiming VIP access to heaven. It needs faithful servants who tremble before the Word of God.

Farewell Nigeria. America, here we come! Apparently, when the going gets tough, even the “super-anointed” ones know exactly where to relocate.
