IF THE GARDEN OF EDEN WERE PERFECT, SATAN WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN THERE
By Akin Ojumu
This video clip is from an hour-long message preached by “pastor” Olakunle Soriyan at the House on the Rock London on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025. The entire video can be found on the church’s YouTube channel.
For those who may not have heard of him, Olakunle Soriyan, aka PK, is a highly sought after tickler of itching ears. His Instagram profile says he is an “Autodidact. Wall Street Journal & USA TODAY Best-Selling Forbes Author. Iconoclast. Global Thought Leader. Futurist. Manifestation Strategist. Investor.”
When you compare Soriyan’s own description of his areas of expertise and interest with the modern trend and emphasis of worship in contemporary churches, you’ll understand why many churches now invite him as a keynote speaker and invited minister. They seek him out to come and fill their heads and minds with words they want to hear.
Romans 16:18
“For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”
Before proceeding to Kunle Soriyan’s message, I can’t help but point out the utter irreverence the man has for God. Here’s a supposed pastor wearing a hat while he is supposed to be preaching the Gospel inside what’s supposed to be a Christian Church. There’s no clearer way to demonstrate once contempt for God than to wear what looks like a sorcerer’s skullcap on His pulpit.
Beyond Kunle Soriyan’s Babalawo’s headdress, which is quite troubling and raises a lot of concern, what I find most problematic is the content of his message. My ears were particularly pricked when I heard him utter the following remarks.
“If the Garden of Eden was perfect, Satan will not be there. Come on. The Garden was good, the Lord did not say it was perfect. He said it was good. If it was perfect, the Devil will not be there. Amen. The tree of knowledge of good and evil will not be there. If Adam was perfect, Eve will have been unnecessary. The necessity of Eve underscores the imperfection of Adam…”
According to “pastor” Kunle Soriyan, the Garden of Eden was not perfect…just good. It was the imperfection of the Garden of Eden that opened the door for Satan to walk in and caused Eve to be deceived. Also, God made Eve only because Adam was not perfect. If Adam were perfect, there wouldn’t have been any need for Eve. The existence of women came about because of the imperfection of man.
There’s no point quibbling over the word “good” versus “perfect” with respect to the state of God’s creation before the Fall. All I can say is that before sin entered into the world, the human race enjoyed a perfect and unbroken harmony with God. Because their soul had not been corrupted with the poison of iniquity, man was in one accord with God and, in turn, lived in concord with nature. Prior to the advent of sin, the human race was at peace with God, at peace with themselves, and at peace with all of God’s creation.
Before the Fall of man, there was no sickness, disease or death, idolatry and evil had no place, and violence and bloodshed were non-existent. It wasn’t until man sinned that the peaceful order of creation was thrown into a paroxysm of chaos and confusion. The balance and symmetry of the relationship between man and God, and between man and the rest of creation, was forever shattered by the introduction of sin.
Furthermore, if as “pastor” Kunle Soriyan has asserted, it was the imperfection of the Garden of Eden that brought the Devil into the place, I wonder what he has to say about Heaven. Because we read in the Book of Job that Satan, long after he had been thrown out of Heaven, was among the angelic beings who presented themselves before the LORD.
Job 1:6-8
“One day the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came with them. “Where have you come from?” said the LORD to Satan. “From roaming through the earth,” he replied, “and walking back and forth in it.” Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one on earth like him, a man who is blameless and upright, who fears God and shuns evil.””
Going by Kunle Soriyan’s logic, the mere presence of Satan in the courts of Heaven along with the other angelic beings must mean that the presence of God was also an imperfect place. As the logic goes, if Heaven was perfect, Satan would not have been there.
If you want to know what the pastor and the congregation of House on The Rock London thought of Kunle Soriyan’s message, read the caption of the original video on their YouTube channel. It says:
“A transformational Father’s Day message from Pastor Kunle Soriyan challenging men and all Believers to step out of society’s hustle-driven timelines and embrace God’s eternal rhythm. Discover the power of positioning over pursuit, honour over criticism, and purpose over pressure. This message is a prophetic call to redefine legacy, leadership, and masculinity in God’s economy.”
That a Christian Church would describe Kunle Soriyan’s message as transformational and prophetic, tells you all you need to know about the spiritual condition of the pastor and members of the House on the Rock London. For them not to realize that Kunle Soriyan’s statement is heretical and blasphemous, reveals a vast emptiness of these people’s profession of faith. Their spirituality is marked by a harrowing hollowness.
If after hearing Kunle Soriyan’s remarks a sickening revulsion does not immediately rise up within you, you really need to examine yourself to see whether you are still in the faith. A congregation of self-professed believers who fail to comprehend the gravity of the blasphemy in what Soriyan says in this video clip, is a group of people firmly set on the broad road that leads to destruction.
