GOD HAS CANCELLED THE 2026 FIFA WORLD CUP
By Akin Ojumu
Appearing on the June 17, 2025 edition of the CENTTWINZ TV podcast on YouTube, Brother Joshua, a resident of Joburg but who’s originally from Cape Town, shared a message he received personally from the Lord Jesus Christ which is certainly going to break the heart of everyone in the soccer-loving world.
In the said revelation, which Brother Joshua claims he received in a vision or a dream back in 2018, God told him that He, the Almighty God, by all the sovereign power vested in Him, has decided to cancel the 2026 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be co-hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
The Lord Jesus Christ, in all His glory, appeared to Brother Joshua and gave him a very important message to the whole wide world.
“2018, again in a vision, in a dream. I don’t see him in this dream, but I hear a voice so loud…his voice so loud…and he says these words, and to the people who are listening, please pay attention to what I’m going to say. Mark the words that I’m about to say because none of the words that I’m saying are going to fall to the ground. None of these words will be empty because they come from God himself. In other words, they will be fulfilled. He said these words in the loud voice, I didn’t see him, but he spoke in the voice, in this dream. He said, ‘There will be no World Cup 2026.’ He was speaking of the men’s soccer World Cup. ‘Because life on earth will not be business as usual for those who are left behind.’ These are the words he spoke to me.”
So, why has God suddenly become a celestial killjoy? Why would He summarily cancel the La Copa Mundial de la FIFA 2026…an event that’s about the only thing that brings citizens of nations together in unity? Why would God want to break the heart of all the soccer lovers in the world? Why? Why? Why?
Now, I know what you are probably thinking is the reason God would do this. But you are wrong. Contrary to what you may like to believe, this has got nothing to do with the 2026 World Cup being co-hosted by America. And it’s most certainly not because of Donald Trump or his MAGA palaver. God is not a politician. He doesn’t play politics or take political sides. God is too pure to behold iniquity and would never put His anthropomorphic thumb on the scale on behalf of any politician or political ideology.
If you must know, the real reason God cancelled the 2026 FIFA World Cup is because of the Rapture. Yes, you heard that right. Nine months prior to the scheduled kickoff of the June 2026 La Mundial, the events described in 1 Thessalonians would have taken place.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17
“For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.”
According to Brother Joshua, the Lord Jesus specifically told him that the long-awaited Rapture is going to happen on the 23rd and 24th of September 2025. In less than 3 weeks from today, those who truly belong to Christ, dead or alive, would be caught up to heaven to meet their Lord in the air.
To those of you who have been expectantly and eagerly waiting for the Rapture, this may seem like me burying the lede, i.e., failing to put the most important information or the main point of a story at the beginning. Well, the reason I didn’t start with the date of the Rapture or make the title of this commentary something like, “Did you know that the rapture will happen in less than 3 weeks?” is because I don’t want to be accused of sensationalism or like I’m click baiting the reader.
I wanted you to hear it directly from Brother Joshua’s mouth what the Lord Jesus told him in his vision.
“Ok. Fast forward still in 2018. So, I was sleeping one morning, early morning, I wake up, I’m awake now. I’m not dreaming. I switch on the lights. I was reading my Bible…I read my Bible. And Jesus appears as, you know, you guys are sitting opposite me. He appears in front of me in a white robe this time. I’m looking at him, and he says these words, From the time Israel became a nation in 1948 there will be 77 years to the exodus.’ Now, he used the word exodus, but he was talking about the Rapture. And remember, I’m not dreaming. I’m looking at him as he is talking, without his mouth opened. Remember, he is speaking through his mind. He says to me, ‘On the 23rd and the 24th of September 2025, I will come to take my church.’ There is a date. On the 23rd and the 24th of September 2025.”
According to Brother Joshua from Cape Town, the reason the FIFA World Cup 2026 is not going to happen is because by then, the entire post-Rapture world would be embroiled in utter chaos, complete destruction, and total devastation to such an extent that watching twenty-two young men kick around a soccer ball would be the last thing on the minds of the people of the world.
So, here’s my advice, given free of charge, to those of you who have purchased tickets to watch the La Mundial, cancel the transaction and ask for a refund. In 3 weeks, you wouldn’t be thinking of the World Cup because you’d be preoccupied with a life-altering event of eternal proportions.
Now, if all this sounds silly to you, it’s because it is. Brother Joshua is just another charlatan in a long line of charlatans. Unfortunately, there’s a proliferation of those in the Church today. They purport to speak on behalf of God words that God has not spoken and in the process violate the third commandment.
Exodus 20:7
“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain”
Concerning the Rapture, we do not need false prophets like Brother Joshua to tell us the day and the hour because the Lord Jesus Christ Himself has already told us that nobody knows the day or the hour.
Matthew 24:36
“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only.”
Since the Lord Jesus Christ cannot and will not contradict Himself, it’s pretty easy to conclude that Brother Joshua has lost his mind. The confused man ought to be immediately arrested and confined in an insane asylum. This is exactly what you expect to happen whenever someone with a schizoaffective disorder stops taking their medications. The hallucinations and delusions return in full force.
