PAPA ADEBOYE WANTS YOU TO GET A KISS FROM GOD

By Akin Ojumu

Did you know that God is a good kisser? Have you ever longed to be a recipient of God’s cosmic smooching? Do you desire to spend a moment alone with God, canoodling, and literally kissing and making out?

Oh, well. Luck is on your side. Papa Enoch Adeboye believes God is eagerly and expectantly looking for people with whom He can exchange a passionate celestial kiss. And he thinks he can pray for you to be a partaker of a cosmic kissing session with God.

Preaching, supposedly, at the April 2023 thanksgiving service to a group of officers from the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Airforce, and the Nigerian Civil Defense on how they can become vessels of honor, the Daddy GO of the Redeemed Christian Church of God told the spellbound audience that, unbeknownst to them, God secretly kisses them.

According to the Daddy in the Lord of RCCG members:

“From time to time, God kisses you.”

Perhaps sensing skepticism in his audience, given the quizzical expression plastered on their faces, the great Daddy GO attempts to dispel their doubt by pointing to a Bible passage that he believes talks about God engaging in a kiss-kiss with mankind.

“You say, ‘No, no, no. That cannot be possible.’ Oh…em…in Numbers chapter 12 from verse 5 to 8. Numbers 12:5-8, the Almighty God said if I want to talk to a prophet, I may show him a dream, I may give him a vision. He said, but Moses is different. I talk to him mouth to mouth. Ah! I thought God would have said, ‘I talk to him mouth to ear.’ You know, when you want to whisper to somebody and you don’t want anybody else to hear, you put your mouth near the ear and whisper. God said, ‘No.’”

So that the bewitched crowd would understand how important it is for them to be kissed by God, Papa Adeboye, as usual, proceeds to tell the story of one of his sons who supernaturally received an unexpected job offer and was immediately promoted to become the CEO of the company. All this happened simply because he, the Daddy GO himself, prayed over him.

Having prepped and primed them with this fantabulous tale of miraculous promotions, Papa Adeboye then promises the crowd that he would ask God, on their behalf, to visit them and plant a kiss on their lips so that they too will enjoy similar miracles.

“I can’t begin to tell you what happens when you get a kiss from God. I will leave that to the Holy Spirit to manifest it in the lives of someone. I will pray that someone will get a kiss from the Almighty today. And then you come and tell us…“chuckling and crackling”…the result.”

According to Daddy GO, a kiss from God would immediately turn them into decree-issuing lord and ruler of the Universe. The moment they experience a kiss from God, their words would become law. No sooner than their unholy piehole touched the holy mouth of God that they’ll begin to decree and declare all kinds of stuff into existence. From that instance, whatever they say will come to pass.

“But I can tell you at least this much. If you have ever received a kiss from the Most High God, from that moment onward, you rule by decrees. Everything you say comes to pass. When you get a kiss from God, whatever you speak is done.”

What Daddy GO fails to tell his audience, however, is whether God would still kiss them even if their breath stinks like rotten fish. The anointed man of God also fails to disclose what the mouth of God tastes like, given the fact that he must have kissed God several times. Personally, I’m curious to know which type of kiss God prefers. Is it a French kiss, Lizard kiss, Ice kiss, or some other type of kiss?

If you are reading this and it all sounds ridiculous to you, well, it’s because it is. The assertion that God is in the habit of kissing people is not only silly and outrageous, but also egregiously blasphemous. That Dr Adeboye would hold such a view is another evidence of the old man’s lack of depth in the understanding of Scriptures.

You don’t have to be a Bible scholar or a genius theologian to know that in every human language there are idioms and maxims peculiar to it. Take for instance the Yoruba language.

The Yoruba people have a saying, “O fi àáké kọ́rí.”

Although the literal meaning of this saying is, “He hangs an axe on his head.” The actual meaning, however, is “He assumes a rigid and unyielding position.”

This is exactly what the Daddy GO of the RCCG did with Numbers 12:8. Ignoring, or perhaps, not understanding that the Hebrew language has idioms, he erroneously gave the passage a literal interpretation. He thinks that when the Bible says that God spoke to Moses “mouth to mouth,” that actually meant that God kissed Moses.

Numbers 12:8 (KJV)
“With him I speak mouth to mouth, clearly, and not in riddles, and he beholds the form of the Lord. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

To accurately interpret and correctly understand what God meant by, “With him I speak mouth to mouth,” all you have to do is look up the verse in other Bible translations which provide a clearer and more modern rendering of the text.

Numbers 12:8 (NKJV)
“I speak with him face to face, even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid To speak against My servant Moses?”

Numbers 12:8 (NIV)
“With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”

Numbers 12:8 (Amplified)
“With him I speak mouth to mouth [directly], Clearly and openly and not in riddles; And he beholds the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid to speak against My servant Moses?”

As you can see, the expression, “With him I speak mouth to mouth,” simply means I speak with him directly and face to face. God is here saying that He communicates His instructions to Moses in plain terms and not in complicated riddles so that Moses understands God’s instructions clearly without any confusion.

God spoke to Moses without any mediation. The Lord did not speak to Moses through visions or dreams, but plainly. Unlike no other person in the Old Testament, Moses had the most explicit and intimate encounters with God. The man saw the back of God.

You’d expect the General Overseer of a global megachurch with massive following to have done the due diligence of looking up the passage in other Bible translations before he embarrasses himself by his ridiculous claim of God kissing Moses. That he didn’t shows how much disregard and irreverence he has for God and His Word. Its such a shame that hundreds of thousands of people consider this man their spiritual father.

Although many of his followers will never admit it, there's no denying the glaring fact that when it comes to understanding of the Bible, Dr Adeboye is semi-illiterate. The man is a serial abuser of Scripture and a repeat offender with respect to the mishandling of the Word of God. There’s no Bible text that the man has not seen fit to twist and distort in order to promote all sorts of mysticism.

Given his pedigree in hydrodynamics and advanced mathematics, Dr Adeboye is a prime example of a man who is wise in the ways of the world but foolish in the Word of God. There’s no doubt in my mind that the man doesn’t know God. I say that not based on my own assumptions, but based on what the Word of God says. Those who love God, keep His Word and faithfully uphold its fidelity. And you can’t have the Spirit of God living inside of you and habitually twist and perpetually distort the Gospel of Christ. There’s no way that’s remotely possible.

2 John 1:9
“Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son.”

Because of the severe consequences of following after a twister and distorter of God’s Word, God warns us to mark and avoid such people. We are prohibited from entertaining them, and we are not even to welcome them into our homes. Those who fail to heed this warning run the risk of taking part in the wickedness of the false teacher.

2 John 1:10-11
“If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works.

Dr Adeboye is a spiritual plague laying waste to the eternal destinies of many. If you care at all about your soul, you’ll flee from him.
