DONALD TRUMP DESECRATES EASTER SUNDAY

Easter Sunday, the day Jesus rose again from the grave, is considered by Christians through all the ages as the Holiest Day of the Christian faith. On this glorious day, Christ triumphed over death, the sting of death was broken, and death was swallowed up in victory. Much more than His birth or death, the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ from the grave is the very essence of Christianity. 

The resurrection demonstrates that God accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf. It shows that God has the power to raise us from the dead. It guarantees that the bodies of those who believe in Christ will not remain dead but will be resurrected unto eternal life. Jesus’ resurrection means that our sin is forgiven, death is defeated, and believers are offered eternal life and new, transformed lives now. It validates Jesus as the Son of God and guarantees that those who trust in Him will also experience a future resurrection, providing hope that death is not the final end (Sources: Got Questions & Google AI).

Yet, on this last Easter Sunday, the President of the United States decided to enter the pit latrine of his social media platform, pull down his pants, squat down, and defecate on the Holiest Day of the Christian faith. That’s right, Donald J. Trump, the man Christians the world over worship as the strongman defender, protector, and champion of the Christian faith, chose the day of Christ’s Resurrection to post on social media an expletive-laden rant of a lunatic that ended with “Praise be to Allah!” 

If you thought it is Trump Derangement Syndrome that is clouding my judgement, and you convince yourself that it is my irrational opposition to anything Trump does that is leading me to misinterpret Donald Trump’s post on Truth Social on the morning of Easter Sunday as a desecration of the Holiest Day of Christianity, well, you need to listen to what Tucker Carlson had to say about it. 

What you are about to read is a transcript of a short segment of Tucker Carlson’s podcast posted on YouTube on Monday, April 6th. In it, Tucker expresses his horror and outrage at reading Trump’s Easter Sunday Truth Social post.

Easter Sunday is not just a holy day on the Christian calendar. It is the center of the Christian calendar. It is the holiest day in Christian life because it’s the day that Christians remember the whole point of their religion, which is not that Jesus was killed, but that He rose from the dead, that He beat death. It is unique in history. 

This is the day that Christians celebrate His resurrection. And in this country, that celebration has been watered down effectively to candy and Easter bunnies. But globally, and certainly historically, Easter is the focus. It’s preceded by the Holy Week and Lent; 40 days of self-denial and prayer all leading up to yesterday, Easter morning. And for faithful Christians, it is still the biggest day of the year. And it’s a day of joy. 

The thing every person fears most is death. We are born fearing it because we are born knowing it’s coming. And Christianity, unique among religions, promises victory over it. And Jesus’s resurrection is proof that God can beat death because only God creates life. And so, the morning of Easter is a uniquely joyful and peaceful moment. 

And yet that peace, yesterday, was shattered. That’s not an overstatement. It was shattered for many observant Christians by a statement that the President of the United States put out at 8:03 a.m. Eastern Time on Easter morning that said this...and we are going to read it in its entirety, not in outrage or self-righteousness, but honestly in horror. Quote:

“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH. Praise be to Allah. PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Now, a lot of people reading that imagined, of course, this can’t be real. Did the President of the United States really just write that? And it is real. It is maybe the most real thing this President has ever done, and also the most revealing on every level. It is vile on every level.

For those of who may not know who he is, Tucker Carlson is a rightwing conservative political activist and commentator. He previously hosted the nightly political talk show, Tucker Carlson Tonight, on Fox News from 2016 to 2023. An advocate and die-hard supporter of Donald Trump, Tucker has been described as a high-profile proponent of Trumpism (i.e., MAGA), and an influential voice in right-wing media. 

Tucker Carlson has street cred as a fervid supporter of Donald Trump. He has been a reliable and consistent Trump voter since 2015 when Trump first ran for the Office of the President of the United States. In the last election, Tucker spent months on the campaign trail, traveling all over the country, making a case for why Americans should elect Trump as POTUS. In spite of the horror he feels about Trump’s actions, Tucker Carlson still professes his affection for Trump and may still vote for him in the future. 

So, when you hear Tucker Carlson raise alarm and express revulsion at the vileness of Trump and his desecration of the Christian faith, it’s something all MAGA lovers should take seriously. Unlike people like me who can’t stand Donald Trump, you cannot easily dismiss Tucker Carlson as just another Never-Trumper manifesting an episode of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Nevertheless, I know the typical reaction of the MAGAverse to criticisms of their Dear Leader. Having dealt with MAGA supporters these many years, and having figured out how they reason, their response to Tucker Carlson’s fire alarm signal is predictable. They are going to repudiate and label him as a leftwing radical Islamic Jihadist.

Yet, there is a clear pattern developing here. Christianity is being undermined and maligned by a man who presents himself, and he is believed by many, to be a champion of the Christian faith.

Just recently, at a White House Easter Luncheon, Donald Trump was, practically, compared to and equated with the Lord Jesus Christ by Paula White, Franklin Graham and other prominent religious conservatives. Less than a week after this sacrilegious comparison, that same Donald Trump took to social media to yell “Praise be to Allah,” at the top of his lungs on the very day Christians celebrate the Resurrection of Christ Jesus.

Blinded by their loyalty, the Christian MAGA supporters of Donald Trump fail to see the emerging pattern of the mockery and denigration of the Christian faith by a man whom they erroneously believe to champion their cause. 

So bad is the blindness of Trump Christian supporters that they don’t even realize that when he was sworn in as the 47th POTUS on January 20, 2025, Donald Trump did not place his hand on the Bible. While his wife, Melania Trump, held his personal Bible and the Lincoln Bible, Donald Trump did not touch them during the oath of office. Now, imagine it was Barack Obama who refused to place his hand on the Bible during his inauguration. You can be sure that the rightwing conservative echo chamber would have started a revolution.

Although this is a clear signal to anyone who cares to pay to attention, MAGA Christians fails to understand that this was Donald Trump clearly and explicitly telling them that he doesn’t care what the Holy Bible represents or what it says, and that he intends not to be guided or constrained by the Word of God as the President of the United States. Barely a year later, he has shown the whole world he meant it.

Unbeknownst to these people who are quick to dismiss anyone who disagrees with Trump’s politics and policies as suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, they themselves are suffering from an even more serious malady known as the Trump Denial Syndrome. 

Trump Denial Syndrome is a highly debilitating spiritual, moral, and mental illness that makes it impossible for those afflicted by it from being able to see or acknowledge anything wrong in Donald Trump’s atrocious behaviors and actions.
