CAGED IN A BUBBLE OF DELUSION

By Akin Ojumu

Here’s something to chew on while we wait for The Temptation of Jesus (Part II) to finish cooking.

2 Thessalonians 2:9-12
“The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. Therefore God sends them a strong delusion, so that they may believe what is false, in order that all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

The sad reality about the vast majority of church folks is the fact that they despise the truth of God. As a result, God has brought upon them a strong delusion. It’s for this reason many of them cannot see through the charade of their false apostles. And it’s why they are unable to detect the chivalry of the false prophets who parade themselves as ministers of the Gospel.

Matthew 13:15
“For this people’s heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.”

Because God has blinded the eyes of church folks, they are unable to discern the maleficence of the General Overseer who drinks tea with God. As a result of the calloused hearts of these people, the malevolence of the blasphemer who shamelessly claimed it was money problem that led Jesus to the Cross is completely lost on them.

Many people who call themselves Christians today continue to fall for the cunning craftiness of wolves in sheep’s clothing because God has shut their minds so that they won’t be able to come to an understanding that they are victims of a religious scam. This blindness is the reason they keep going back day after day to be molested and violated by Gospel hucksters who have exchanged the true Gospel for a bill of goods. And it’s all because they despise the truth.

Ensnared in a bubble of delusion, church folks are highly irritable whenever their pastors are criticized. Caged in a state of manufactured illusion, they lash out at critics. Unrighteously indignant, they rage at doubters and disparage voices of dissent. Like rabid dogs, they attack anyone who dares to call out the erroneous teachings of their daddies and mummies in the lord.

Poor folks. As victims of the wile and caprice of unscrupulous men, they fail to see the false signs and are unable to recognize the fake miracles. Because they are in a deep state of spiritual stupor, they cannot tell the truth of God from the lie of demons.

Wynie Van Tonder was right when he said:

“People will not easily oppose deception they love…”

Church folks are easily susceptible to deception because the lies they are told are exactly what they want to hear. And what people want to hear are words that inflame the cardinal weaknesses of human nature, which are the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh, and the pride of life.

Romans 16:17-18
“I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”

Charlatans understand and exploit these three cardinal weaknesses of human nature. So, they are more than willing to appease the fleshly passions. With their smooth talk and flattery messages of greed and id, they massage the lust of the eyes. Spiritual phoneys arouse the lust of the flesh in their victims by feeding their cravings and carnal desires. By making their prey feel like they are the center of the universe and that the world revolves around them, impostors incite the pride of life.

This scheme of the wolves in sheep’s clothing is what you see playing out when a General Overseer revealed to his congregation that God told him that the governing council of his denomination would one day hold their meetings on the moon. It’s this machination of exploitation that drives the same General Overseer to tell a fabulous story of people getting miracles by simply eating his leftover chicken.

Sadly, there’s really nothing you can do for church folks who fall for cock and bull fables. People who enjoy being taken for a fool can’t be helped. Nevertheless, as much as it lies within me, I will not cease to speak the truth. I pray that one day God will have mercy and remove the delusion clouding the minds of those of them who are my friends.
