FAITH MORE PRECIOUS THAN GOLD
Buckle up, persecution is coming. Whether you are a legit Christian or a phony-baloney pretending to be one, your faith is going to be put to the test. There will be a day when everyone who professes to be a follower of Jesus will feel the heat of persecution's fire. Your faith will be tried to determine if you are alright.
That day, when the pressure cooker is turned up to the max, the faith of false Christians will melt away like cheap wax. On the day of agony, pseudo-Believers will not be able to withstand the anguish of tribulation. Superficial faith will collapse, and pretend Christians will take to their heels, because they never belonged to Christ to begin with even as John rightly told us a long time ago in 1 John 2:19.
“Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” (James 1:2).
Conversely, everyone who nameth the name of Christ shall stand. True Believers will not bend under the weight of persecution. The heavy burden of distress heaped on their shoulders will not cause them to buckle. In the face of torment of epic proportions, the faith of authentic Christians will endure. And by their endurance under severe persecution, their profession will be proven to be the real deal.
“But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (Matthew 24:13).
Trouble, persecution, and suffering will burn up the chaff of fake Christianity to reveal the shallow, weedy, rocky ground of false profession. Authentic faith that is of God will endure because the Holy Spirit provides the strength and the Almighty God Himself will provide the grace.
Under duress, superficial allegiance to Christ will not endure. But those who are of Christ will demonstrate their faith by their resolute endurance. The faith of true believers will be authenticated in the midst of their numerous sufferings. The heat of the fiery furnace will validate the conviction of true Christ Believers.
“But the LORD knoweth the way I take, when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.” (Job 23:10).
So, fasten your seat belt. It’s going to be trial by fire.
