IGNORANCE IS KILLING THE EKKLESIA

By Akin Ojumu

While the people of this generation boast about their enlightenment and we revel in our ability to access terabytes of information with a single click, the Church of God wallows in ignorance and many of us walk around blind to God’s Truth.

At no time in history of mankind has the world been this suffused with this much Biblical resources and never before has the well of Spiritual information been this full. Indeed, we live in a world inundated with the Bible.

Yet at a time when there’s such a rich abundance of resources from which to glean undiluted exegesis, learn uncorrupted theology, be disciplined in unadulterated doctrine, the absence of insight into the Truth of God is profound. In an era that should be marked with the overflow of the understanding of the Word of Life, a pandemic of lack of discernment has inflected the Ekklesia.

If we cannot discern the Truth with this much resource at our disposal any wonder why hundreds of millions are ensconced in a milieu of deception and tens of millions die of a thousand heresies. If, in the midst of such richness of Biblical resources available to us, there is this level of ignorance about God’s Word, it should come as no surprise that many die of spiritual kwashiorkor.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Since you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the Law of your God, I also will forget your children.” (Hosea 4:6)

Brothers and Sisters, we've got a problem. And that problem is lack of discernment. Because the Ekklesia cannot discern the Truth, many die of spiritual AIDS on a daily basis. The Church is suffocating to death because the oxygen of God’s Truth that can keep it alive is in short supply.

“Return! Return! Return!” The Word of God says, “Return!” In order for the Body of Christ to live, it must plug itself back into its life source. For the Church to come alive it must return to the Truth of the Word of God.
