CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: SHOUT OUT TO NIGERIA’S MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS

In a country with antiquated and dilapidated healthcare system, were it not for the clinical acumen of the cadre of healthcare professionals in Nigeria, and their extraordinary commitment to the Oath they swore to protect and save lives, the country would have been in the throes of death as a result of the Coronavirus outbreak as we speak, with hundreds of thousands infected and tens of thousands dead from the disease; it would have been a real life zombie apocalypse.

But against all odds, just like they did during the Ebola outbreak, the men and women of the medical profession have again made all the difference in the current outbreak, demonstrating a level competence and bravery rare to find in a country ruled by selfish and self-absorbed cowards. Despite enumerable challenges, their sacrifice and brilliance have provided the country a cover of protection from a full-blown outbreak of COVID-19. And thank God, their diligence is paying off, Nigeria has only had one reported case of COVID-19 so far.

So, THANK YOU, to all the Nigeria’s medical professionals working tirelessly to keep this deadly virus at bay.
To the lab technicians, nurses, doctors, and all those risking their lives at the front line of the fight against the Coronavirus, "Wese kakabo".
For your dedication and commitment to saving lives, I say “Daalu nke ukwuu”.
For protecting the country from a deadly disease with the potential to wreak untold havoc across a nation ill-equipped to handle it, “Na gode sosai”.
For your courage in the face of adversity, “Esòsòñò”.
For all your sweat and tears that go unrecognized and unappreciated by incompetent leaders in the country, “E se pupo”.
