IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED (PART II)

“By His Power, Wisdom & Outstretched Arm”

By Akin Ojumu

The Word of Faith Movement is the source of some of the most blood-curling heresies in modern times. As the Grand Poohbah of the “Name It Claim It Blab It Grab It” false gospel, Kenneth Copeland is one of the most prolific false teachers ever to disgrace the name of Christ. The man has promoted so many bizarre teachings, it’s virtually impossible to catalog them all.

For instance, it’s common in the Word of Faith Movement to diminish the deity and glory of God and to edify man. Their deification of man starts with the first man, Adam. This erroneous movement teaches that Adam was a carbon copy of YAHWEH. Kenneth Copeland not only believes that “Believers are equal with God,” the man has gone as far as to say that “God is the greatest failure and loser in the Bible.” A brazenly blasphemous utterance any degenerate mind could ever conjure up.

Kenneth Copeland has told so many lies about God and His Word that I wouldn’t believe anything coming out of his mouth even if his tongue was notarized. The man is a walking talking heresy spewing machine.

Second of a three-part discourse, this commentary is a continuation of the rebuttal of another one of Kenneth Copeland’s endless whoppers. It is written to challenge his erroneous interpretation of Hebrews 11:3 that God created the universe by faith. We are going to show what Scripture teaches about how God created the heavens and earth.

“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3).

As we said last time, Hebrew 11:3 is talking about the faith by which Christians believe in God’s work of creation. The text is telling us that it is by faith that we, Believers, come to understand that God created the universe by His Word. The passage is talking about our faith and not God’s.

Neither in Hebrews 11:3 nor in another passage of Scripture would you find where it is taught that God created the universe by faith. Nowhere is it said that God needed to exercise His faith in order to create the heavens and the earth.

Here are a few Bible texts that teach us about how God created the universe:

Psalm 33:6
“By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.”

Jeremiah 10:12
“It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.”

Jeremiah 27:5
“It is I who by my great power and my outstretched arm have made the earth, with the men and animals that are on the earth, and I give it to whomever it seems right to me.”

Jeremiah 32:17
“‘Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you.’”

Jeremiah 51:15
“It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens.”

Hebrews 11:3
“By faith we understand that the universe was created by the Word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.”

As you can see, what the Bible explicitly teaches is that God created the heavens and the earth by His power, wisdom, understanding, outstretched arm, and Word.

Kenneth Copeland’s claim that God needed faith in order to create the universe is an assault on God’s Omnipotence. Such false teachings originate from Satan. Those who traffic in these errors diminish the deity and glory of God in order that they may deify mere man and make ordinary flesh equal with God.

We’ll continue next time.
