GOD BLESSES THOSE WHO BLESS ISRAEL
By Akin Ojumu
“Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father's house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”” (Genesis 12:1-3).
If you believe God and you know His Word, you’d not be rooting for cowardly violent marauders who slaughtered civilians in a musical concert, raped young girls and violated elderly women, kidnapped babies and children to use as human shields, and paraded their bloodied and battered civilian hostages on the streets in celebration of their pyrrhic victory.
Hamas is a terrorist organization out to serve its own selfish interest and not the interest of the Palestinian people. They are not interested in diplomacy or peace. These are hateful animals impervious to reason and resistant dialogue. Their singular goal is the eradication of Israel from the face of the earth.
Since 2006 when it came to power, Hamas has used violence and intimidation to perpetuate their corrupt reign in Gaza. They’ve caged the citizens in fear and trepidation, and have trapped them in indentured servitude. The Palestinian people in Gaza are languishing daily under the jackboot of Hamas.
Violent conflict with Israel is a means to an end for Hamas. War with Israel distracts the people of Gaza from paying attention to Hamas’ corruption. Perpetual feud with Israel is a cause of untold hardship for the ordinary Palestinian people but a money-making venture for Hamas terrorists.
Yet, these barbaric murderers shamelessly turn around to blame Israel for the dire economic situation and humanitarian crisis that result from the very conflict they deliberately instigated. They foment skirmishes with Israel and then blame Israel for taking steps to contain the unprovoked attacks.
During conflicts with Israel, Hamas monopolizes the movement of goods and services into Gaza by charging exorbitant tax and excise for the use of their illegal tunnels. They use the violent clashes to extract bribes for things like the provision of medical aid and for travel permits to Egypt from the poor Palestinian people who are innocent victims of Hamas’ actions. Intransigent internecine with Israel is, therefore, a lucrative venture for Hamas terrorists.
In its fifteen-year reign of terror in Gaza, Hamas’s attacks on Israel have allowed it to skirt accountability for its corruption. And this in turn suggests that, if the violence is to end, something must be done to address the rampant corruption that condemns so many Palestinians, in both the West Bank and Gaza, to poverty and hopelessness (Source: The Global Anticorruption Blog).
There’s a choice before the Palestinian people. In order for them to have peace, Hamas and its military infrastructure must be decimated. For the people of Gaza to prosper, the despotic terrorists that rule them with iron fist must be obliterated.
You either believe God and His Word or you don’t. Drawing a false moral equivalence between Israel and Hamas is a farce rooted in ignorance of God and His Word and the history of Palestine.
Like the rest of us, Israel is made up of fallen people and not saints. As imperfect humans, they have their own share of mistakes and faults. However, those who compare the Israeli Defense Force to an organization of savages and suicide bombers need to have their mind thoroughly examined. People who fail to see the glaring distinction between Israel and Hamas should take a critical look at the condition of their moral compass.
It’s an abject moral failure to rationalize the beheading of babies, slaughter of children, rape of women, and mass murder of the elderly whose only offense is because they were Jewish. Only reprehensible people will support a group of savages who massacred innocent attendees of a musical festival while live-streaming it on social media. Those who cheer and celebrate the savagery of Hamas terrorists must have a sickness in their soul.
