MORE THAN CONQUERORS (PART II)

“Are You Saved, Really?”

By Akin Ojumu

True Christians understand they are at war with Satan and his demonic minions. Concerned that the Christians at Ephesus were all entangled in shadowboxing and busy fighting imaginary enemies, Apostle Paul felt the urgent need to remind them who the adversary really is. Again and again, he hammered home the fact that their unbelieving neighbors aren’t the real enemies.

Rather, the real adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Behind the scenes are fearsome demonic beings feverishly seeking to sift them like wheat. These are dangerous spirits that should not be trifled with.

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12).

From the top echelons to the bottom rung, all of the demonic hierarchies set their evil sights on the true believer. Every battle in this raging war against the children of God is directed from Satan’s high command.

In this conflict, ignorance is not a bliss – except for those who don’t mind losing their soul. The only chance the believer has got against these hordes of hell is to first know the enemy, the nature of his attacks, and the only effective way to fight back.

“The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4).

Nevertheless, the instruments of warfare are not according to the flesh. Our armory is loaded with spiritual weapons, and we fight with spiritual ammunitions which are powerful, through God, by God, and of God, to demolish the strongholds of the principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world., and spiritual wickedness in the heavenlies.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (Romans 6:10-11).

God has given every believer all the resources he needs to fight this war. Within each and every one of us is the power with which we can deal with Satan no matter the onslaughts the devil may bring. However, this is conditioned upon us first and foremost recognizing that our strength is in the Lord, our strength is not ourselves.

Carnal weapons are ineffective in spiritual warfare. We can’t fight Satan and his minions on our own power or ability. Nobody can. The strength we need to win the war flows from God. Secondly, we must put on the armor and the provision that God has made available. It is God who equips His people for the war they are bound to fight.

“Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4).

At no time in the life of any Christian should he feel that the battle against Satan cannot be won. It is imperative that the Believer remembers the battle has already been won. Never should any Christian entertain the thought that he will lose the battle to the enemy. God has given us in Christ all we need for victory.

“For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:26).

If you have genuinely surrendered your life to Christ and you have a testimony of walking in the righteousness of God through faith to back it up, then you are a Christian and, therefore, a child of God. As you submit yourself to God and resist the devil, Satan will flee from you.

True Christians love the Lord their God with everything within them and will be victorious over Satan. Genuine Believers, whose heart, soul, mind, and strength are fully and totally yielded to God and His precepts, are more than conquerors.

You better be certain your faith is for real. Pretend Christians who play Church do not really know God and are certainly not of God. Such faux-Believers are easy pickings for Satan in the spiritual battles between the two kingdoms.
