LACTOSE INTOLERANT CHRISTIANS

Superficiality, frivolity, and triviality of the Word of God are the composts that make up the rotten soil of rampant carnality found in many Christian congregations. 

Pusillanimous Believers, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming, are the byproducts of the juvenilization of the Christian message common in many Christian assemblies.

Deploying gimmicks will not grow a Church. Employing fads is incapable of building up the faith. Adopting quick fixes will only lead the Believers down the rabbit hole of ungodliness. 

A denomination that’s only invested in techniques, entertainment, showbiz, storytelling, human philosophy, and all whatnot is a religious country club of unregenerate souls and not the Church of the Living God. Such a gathering is an intransigent crowd of pseudo-Believers and not a true Christian gathering.

“So, faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the Word of Christ.” (Romans 10:17).

Church Growth comes from the expository preaching of the Word of God. It’s only when the Bible is taught, one verse at a time, consistently, contextually, grammatically, and historically, that the people of God are able to mature in the knowledge of God. The increased knowledge of God that comes from the teaching of the Word of God is what enables Believers to develop a deeper love and reverence for God.

“Like newborn babies, long for the pure spiritual milk of the Word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation.” (1 Peter 2:2).

When you consider the attitude of many Christians towards the Bible, however, you’d think they are intolerant to the pure milk of the Word like someone afflicted with lactose intolerance. Instead of feeding on a lifegiving spiritual diet of God’s Word on a daily basis, they choose instead to consume the poison that emanates from the mouth of just about any charlatan that comes along professing to speak for God.

“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).

I beseech you, therefore, beloved, enough already of the malice with the Word of God. Pick up your Bible, reacquaint yourself with what’s written therein. For it is through the written Word that you’ll be able to hear God speak to you.

BECAUSE JOB DIDN’T TITHE, HIS LIFE BECAME TIGHT

By Akin Ojumu Being the trust-but-verify guy that I am, while fact-checking a social media post by one of my High School friends, in which Bishop David Oyedepo was quoted to have linked the adversity of Job to his tithing habit, I was shocked, but not at all surprised, to find a 2019 video that did indeed confirm what my good friend shared.  In Bishop Oyedepo's telling, the real cause of Job's afflictions was his failure to pay tithes. According to him, God removed Job's divine security and allowed Satan to buffet him with calamity because the man was a habitual tithe defaulter. Because Job didn't tithe, his life became really tight. Here is the Bishop in his own words: “You can't see anywhere where Job tithed. So, his blessing was not secured.
