TAKING CARNAL WEAPONS TO SPIRITUAL BATTLES

So, here is this lady in this video raging and ranting against the LGBTQ agenda. Yet, with her wanton eyes, the prancing and skipping as she goes, with lips painted blinding red, the bandana on her head and the jiggling bracelets on her wrists, I can’t help but ask, “What credibility has this person got to push morality on anyone?”

Without credibility, our words mean nothing. There’s nothing about this lady that speaks morality to me. All I see is another bitter culture warrior looking to fan the flame of culture outrage among her social media followers. If there ever was a case of good message, questionable messenger, this is it.

She claims Target stores are pushing homosexual agenda on little babies. Which begs the question, “Do newborn babies and children go to the stores to do their own shopping?” If Target has LGBTQ-themed baby items on display, is it the babies that come to buy them?

That this woman is a culture warrior is confirmed by her call to action. What she is urging is not repentance from sin and a return to righteousness. Instead, she is summoning people to go out and protest in front of Target stores. Her call to arms is for a nationwide boycott of Target stores. No call for prayers, no preaching of the Gospel, and not even an invitation to the homosexuals to come to Christ. All she’s interested in is for people to rise up and fight. 

This is exactly the problem I have with some of the reactions to the spreading influence of homosexuality in our society. In almost all cases, the proffered solutions are fundamentally flawed and profoundly faulty. The reason the remedies are deficient is because these culture warriors have wrongly diagnosed the cause of homosexuality and the reason for its spread.

Homosexuality is an ailment of the soul. It is a spiritual sickness brought about by sin. The reason it’s spreading is because of the deadness occurring within the Church. It’s the ever-worsening rottenness of the Body of Christ that’s driving the sweeping approval of the LGBTQ way of life in the society.

There is a direct correlation between the corruption and watering down of the Gospel and the normalization of homosexual lifestyle. As Christianity wanes in influence, homosexuality often waxes in society. Because the Body of Christ ceases, to a large extent, to be light and salt of the earth, evil gains ground by leaps and bounds.

Yet, those who wage war against the LGBTQ agenda do so wielding temporal weapons. Forgetting that the rot of the soul cannot be reversed by carnal means, they resort to carrying placards and viral social media manufactured outrage. 

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17).

Spiritual malady cannot be cured by temporal remedy. Staging a protest in front of Target stores will not change sinful hearts. You can boycott Target stores all you want and as long as you want, it wouldn’t stem the tide of the homosexual wave.

Unless and until the unadulterated Gospel is preached, the moral decay in our society will continue unabated. It’s only when the Church returns to preaching the undiluted truth of the Word of God that transformation will come to wretched hearts.
