ALL HAIL THE POPE
By Akin Ojumu
This is David E. Taylor. Over the years, he has gone by many titles which have evolved, getting progressively wackier with each new one. First, he was a prophet. Then he became an apostle. He has also called himself a king and emperor.
Lately, he has come up with a new one. He’s now the pope.
In his telling, it was God who gave him the power to become the pope. One day, Jesus appeared to him, and suddenly he realized he is now the pope. He is the pontiff, and he doesn’t need a robe to be one, for God Himself has chosen him to hold the highest office of the preacher in the world. As the supreme head of all clergies in the world, his word must be obeyed. To disobey him is to disrespect the highest spiritual office in the land.
Now, you can’t hear what this charlatan has to say about himself and not come to the conclusion that some kind of madness has taken over the Body of Christ. I say that because David E. Taylor is part of a larger pattern. He is a symptom of a disease that has infected the Church. This maniac is just one example of the many nutjobs holding sway over the souls of men in the various Christian denominations around the world today.
Alarmingly, impostors like David E. Taylor tend to attract a huge following. Millions of broken people flock to them in search of miracles, blessings, and deliverance. Lost souls hang on to every lie that proceeds out of the mouths of these fraudsters.
After years of being manipulated and exploited by wolves in sheep’s clothing like David E. Taylor, the victimized suckers are left disappointed and disillusioned. They then turn around and blame God for failing them.
It’s for this reason the Lord Jesus warned His disciples in Matthew 24:
“See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”
There are deceivers in the pulpit. They are so well embedded within the Church culture that it’s pretty difficult to identify them. Amongst them are your own Pastors, General Overseers, and Daddies in the Lord that you revere like gods.
If you care at all about your soul, you’ll open your eyes and pay attention to what’s going on around you. The urge to sheepishly follow and believe just about anyone who calls himself a man of God must be resisted at all cost. Be vigilant, be discerning, don’t make yourself a victim of charlatans.
To be forewarned is to be forearmed!
