WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE
It is foolish to entrust your soul to just about anyone with the title of apostle, prophet, evangelist, or pastor simply because of their power of oratory, eloquence in Christianese, massive size of their congregation, huge social media following, and bling-bling around their neck.
Just because somebody calls himself a man of God doesn’t make him a godly man safe for your soul. The modern-day church, like the church in Galatia, is full of bewitched pastors & preachers whose very words are like poison to the souls of their followers.
“O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Are you so foolish…?” (Galatians 3:1-6).
Most regrettably, there are many Christians who have foolishly submitted themselves to the bewitching influences of these pastors and preachers who peddle polluted gospel. Ignorantly, they’ve made themselves victims of Gospel hucksters who, for personal profit, propagate lies of demons and corrupt the true Gospel.
Habitually, these snake-oil salesmen minimize the Word of God, devalue the Grace of God, and diminish the sufficiency of Christ. Instead, they elevate themselves as gods in the eyes of their followers, and they venerate their own personal mystical experiences above the truth of Scriptures. Being the Gnostics that they are, they lay claim to special knowledge available to only a select few.
Often, you hear them give prophetic messages, i.e., the “Word from the Lord,” which they claim to have received directly from God Himself during one of their numerous roundtrips to Heaven. Unlike their gullible followers, Jesus always visits them in their bedrooms, and angels appear to them while taking a dunk on a regular basis.
Upon the fertile ground of destructive heresies, these quasi-spiritual celebrity pastors go on to build megachurches where millions of hapless Christians go to get their ears tickled with bewitching philosophies that corrupt the soul. From their Areopagus, they pump out volumes of cunning craftiness that produce all forms of unrighteousness in the lives of those who imbibe the poison.
Having been hoodwinked by dazzling messages that paint a rosy picture of a Christ life devoid of pain and suffering, absent of hardship and sorrow, and free from self-denial and self-sacrifice, it’s not surprising that the bewitched Christians crash and burn at the slightest encounter with the harsh reality of life.
Because they’ve been fed and primed with the erroneous doctrine of perpetual health, limitless wealth, and extraordinary success, the bewitched Believers easily stumble and fall away from the faith when the promised health, wealth, and success fail to materialize. Compromise here, compromise there, little by little, their lives get consumed by iniquities as they seek, by all means, to acquire the whole world to the detriment of their souls.
“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).
Wake up and smell the coffee, folks. Or, as they say in Nigeria, “Shine your eye.” Stop kidding yourself. You cannot continue in the muck of error and expect the Grace of God to abound. Escape for your life while there’s still time.
