Subject: A Plea and Note of Warning to the COVID-19 Denialists In this Great Family

Dearest Family,

After more than a year of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative that you know how concerned I am about some of you, and it is high time you heard the hard truth from me.

If any member of this family contracts COVID-19 and falls seriously ill from it because that person chooses not to take the necessary public health precautions and refuses to get vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine when it becomes available, because the person puts more premium in the opinion of conspiracy theorists and pays heed to QAnon lies, let it be known that I am not going to offer any sympathy to that person. Should the person die of COVID-19, it should be known now that I am not going to shed a tear or mourn the person's death. 

Now, don't get me wrong. I do not wish evil on anyone and this is not me praying that anyone of you contract COVID or die from it. What this is, simply, is me sounding the alarm – or blowing the horn if you like – to all those who subscribe to conspiracy theories about the COVID-19 pandemic that emanate from the pit of hell. 

For the past one year, I and other members of the family have provided you more than enough information about COVID-19 and the vaccines approved for use against it, either individually or collectively as a group. So, my conscience is clear, for I have done all that is required of me to inform and educate you about the virus.

I’m going to repeat what I have been telling you since the pandemic turned our lives upside down. 

COVID-19 is real. As a family, we have lost relatives to the deadly virus and many amongst us have fallen ill and – thank goodness – recovered from it.  

COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. They are not the sign of the end times. They are not the handiwork of the devil. Getting vaccinated is not taking the mark of the beast. There's nothing diabolical about messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccines; they are simply a new technological platform for vaccine development, and mRNA vaccines will not alter your DNA, transform you into baboons, or cause you to grow alien appendages. And the vaccines do not contain microchips in them that Bill Gates or some evil world order will use to track your movement - that's even laughable because nobody really cares about your movement. 

How and why am I so sure about all this? Well, simple. It is my job.

I have been working on COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic under the leadership and direction of Dr Anthony Fauci, the foremost infectious disease expert in the world and adviser to US Presidents, who happens to be my boss at the US National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIH/NIAID). 

Since the start of the pandemic, I have personally overseen the disbursement of nearly $500 million (that's half a billion US dollars) in research funding to men and women who have dedicated their lives to, and who spend many sleepless nights, trying to find safe and effective remedies for this menace that we all face. These scientists are not devil worshipers or demon possessed Satanists out to conscript you into the devil's army. They are ordinary people committed to rid the world of this disease and passionate about finding ways in which our lives can return to pre-COVID normal.

Should anything bad happens to you because of COVID-19, it won't be because of ignorance. Rather, it'll be because of arrogance and a willingness to believe in a lie. A word, they say, is enough for the wise.

BECAUSE JOB DIDN’T TITHE, HIS LIFE BECAME TIGHT

By Akin Ojumu Being the trust-but-verify guy that I am, while fact-checking a social media post by one of my High School friends, in which Bishop David Oyedepo was quoted to have linked the adversity of Job to his tithing habit, I was shocked, but not at all surprised, to find a 2019 video that did indeed confirm what my good friend shared.  In Bishop Oyedepo's telling, the real cause of Job's afflictions was his failure to pay tithes. According to him, God removed Job's divine security and allowed Satan to buffet him with calamity because the man was a habitual tithe defaulter.
