VACCINE SIDE EFFECTS: COVID-19 vs OTHER VACCINES

The 3 COVID-19 vaccines – Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson – all have a better profile than the shingles vaccine, Shingrix, but less so than the Flu vaccine.

The COVID-19 vaccines cause less Grade 3 adverse event than the shingles vaccine.

The Flu vaccine causes the least Grade 3 adverse event.

Of the 3 COVID-19 vaccines, the Moderna vaccine causes the most Grade 3 adverse event and worst side effect.

The Moderna vaccine shot is the most painful. It also causes the most muscle ache, results in more fatigue and headache, and causes more chills than the other vaccines.

Pfizer vaccine causes the least injection site redness and swelling.

The J&J – one shot – vaccine has the least side effect profile of the COVID-19 vaccines.

The J&J vaccine shot is least painful. And you are least likely to develop post-vaccination fever and chills with the J&J vaccine.

Overall, COVID-19 vaccines are very well tolerated. They save lives.
